Evolutionary history of the earth as traced through rock and fossil records. Introduction to stratigraphic and depositional concepts.

Course introduces students to concepts of deep time and provides the basic framework for evaluating stratigraphy (age) and depositional environments (original setting) of rocks. Course also teaches a history of the earth, as demonstrated through the rock and fossil record, and introduces students to sedimentary systems and problems in the field.
