Tom Rockwell, National Geographic, and Achieve3000 introduce a new video to highlight the interdisciplinary nature of science for middle school students

Tom Rockwell
The National Geographic Society and Achieve3000 have joined forces to create innovative, inquiry-based online science curriculum for middle school children in response to the Obama administration's Race to the Top initiative that prioritizes STEM programs as a national mission. Tom Rockwell, professor of Geological Sciences at SDSU and an internationally recognized expert on earthquakes, has been called upon to support this effort by providing a short video explaining how he reconstructs the earthquake history or a region and his personal story of how he got involved in science as a career. Tom presents an informative summary "from the trenches" on how to read the historical record of earthquakes and the events that drew him to this career.
