The department offers a limited number of first-year Teaching Assistant (TA) support packages. Currently, these packages are awarded based on merit (gpa, GRE) and matching offers of second-year Research Assistant (RA) support from faculty grants. Your chances of obtaining a support package greatly increase if you have contacted a potential research advisor and discussed possible projects and RA funding from grants.

First-Year Support Packages Awarded by Department:

Academic year TA position

- includes teaching 2 lab sections per semester plus assigned time (20 hours per week) = $13,090 for the year
- includes health insurance
- out-of-state tuition waivers can be applied for and are generally awarded by the university

Second-Year Support: Generally must be arranged with potential research/thesis advisor for RA position from grant support
